Justin Bernold
Described by candidates as “a comfort”, “all-knowing” and “incredibly helpful”, Justin founded Firm Prospects after previously serving as a Director of a national legal recruiting firm, where he had helped more candidates receive offers in 2008 than any other recruiter at the company. He has helped attorneys find new jobs in both law firms and companies in Boston, New York, Washington DC, Texas, California, and the Pacific Northwest.
A former Westinghouse Scholar and Let’s Go travel guide author, Justin received his undergraduate degree, magna cum laude, from Harvard College and his law degrees from the University of Virginia (JD, Order of the Coif) and Boston University (LLM in Taxation). He then practiced law for a decade, including experiences as a litigation and corporate associate with Foley Hoag LLP and as a tax associate with Sullivan & Worcester LLP, both AmLaw 200 firms, and also as a business attorney at Bromberg & Sunstein LLP, a prominent intellectual property boutique. In addition to his law firm experience, Justin served as in-house counsel to Student Advantage, Inc., a publicly traded marketing and services company. Before entering private practice, Justin was a judicial clerk to the Honorable Edward R. Korman in the Eastern District of New York.
From late 2007 to early 2009, in addition to his legal recruiting efforts, Justin served as the “Surveys Guru” for Above The Law, a legal blog that receives over 6 million page views a month. During that time, Justin developed a series of surveys investigating the day-to-day experience of law firm associates, students, and judicial clerks, and posted over 100 stories on subjects including billing rates and salary structures, signing bonuses, family leave policies, severance logistics, and other aspects of the attorney experience. Results from these surveys have been reported in national and industry media including Bloomberg, Forbes, and the ABA Journal, as well as various local papers and legal blogs.
“Quite simply, Justin is the best at what he does. He is a professional in all respects, and his work ethic and knowledge of the legal hiring field are truly superb. Perhaps most importantly, Justin spends significant time getting to know the client, which in turn leads to a much higher success rate post-placement. I could not be more pleased to recommend Justin to any other lawyer looking to find his dream job.”
